Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to provide temporary cover within King’s Game Platform Data team. The team provides King’s telemetry platform, enabling our games to define, capture, validate, transport, and manage player-event data so it can be trusted by analytics and downstream systems.

You will help ensure continuity across backend development, operational support, and key strategic initiatives.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who can take ownership of reliable services and integrations, collaborate closely with product and engineering partners, and make sound technical decisions in a fast-moving environment.

Your role within the Kingdom

Build, maintain, and improve backend services and platform capabilities that support Telemetry Data.

Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues; participate in operational support and improve service reliability.

Work with engineers, data teams, product partners, and game teams to clarify requirements and deliver pragmatic solutions.

Review code, contribute to technical design, and promote strong engineering practices for quality, observability, and maintainability.

Document systems, decisions, and operational procedures to support effective handover and team continuity.

Skills to create thrills

Significant professional experience as a backend or platform engineer, including ownership of production systems.

Strong software-engineering fundamentals: designing maintainable services, writing high-quality code, testing, debugging, and code review.

Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, APIs, and Streaming pipelines.

A strong operational mindset, including incident investigation, monitoring, and reliability improvements.

Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners.

A collaborative approach and willingness to support a team through a time-bound transition.

Tech Stack

Strong Java experience and familiarity with cloud-native technologies. Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka/Confluent, SQL/Big Query, or similar technologies is beneficial.
